On Saturday, 29th March, our Men’s 3rd Division squad travelled to New Earswick for the Hebden Trophy – a four-rink round-robin featuring the top four league teams. With no reserves available, it was always going to be a tough day.
We started strong against eventual winners Doncaster, with Coutts/Broad/Jacklin/Fillipi securing a rink win and Bastow/Senior/Robinson/Hawkins earning a draw. However, the matches against North Cave and Selby proved challenging, with only Coutts/Broad/Jacklin/Fillipi maintaining their unbeaten record.
A huge effort came from our other rinks—O’Halloran/Peters/Eve/Fox and Wilkinson/Quinn/Peters/Bentley—who battled hard throughout the long day. Special thanks to Senior and Peters for stepping up, ensuring we could compete, and to Fox, Jacklin, and O’Halloran for adapting to unfamiliar roles at this level.
Despite the results, the competition was a fantastic experience, with great camaraderie, excellent hospitality, and valuable development for next season. Jeff and I are already looking forward to the next campaign. Well done, lads—you did the club proud!

Thanks to all who played in the 3rd division this season. It was a tough season but we learned a lot from it. Hopefully next season we will be stronger and ready for the challenge Lee has set us:
- To win the friendly against the first team
- To win promotion
- To win the hebden trophy
We shouldn’t have a problem with that!
Finally special thanks to Lee for all his hard work and enthusiasm
Thank you all and have a great summer!
